Another Thursday night, another win. The junior high Falcons played solid football from start to finish as they defeated Eden by a final of 51-19. A key play of the game came midway through the 1st quarter. With Eden driving deep into Falcon territory, Ethan Lankford intercepted a pass. The offense took four plays to reach the end zone, the final 40 yards of the drive accomplished on a nifty sweep by Matt Valdez. The Falcons used stingy defense and another Eden miscue to forge ahead 22-0. Jon Santiago made a nifty 30 yard catch from Adolfo Lara to score the third Falcon TD. From that point, the rout was on, with Eden never getting closer than 20 points. One of the most impressive aspects of the ball game was the play of the seventh graders in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Sam McCray made several nice stops, and scored on a 25 yard run. Next week, Veribest faces another junior high powerhouse, Robert Lee. The Steers have only one loss on the season, that to Rankin.
